Our Story

Midland Track Club was founded in the winter of 2016 and four athletes. These athletes met throughout the winter to run together in the snow and compete in local competitions.

In the winter of 2017, sixteen athletes began meeting at the Midland Community Center. These athletes continued to run outside, but also began engaging in rigorous core routines to enhance their running. A sprinting program was introduced this year.

The winter of 2018 saw twenty four runners supporting each other. This year the runners gained access to the Community Center’s wellness gym. These athletes built upon their previous years with cross-training and resistance routines. Two runners competed at the Michigan Indoor Track Series State Meet at Saginaw Valley State University.

Summer 2019 is when MTC expanded it’s program into the summer. Five athletes worked together in a pre-season conditioning program to help prepare them for future sports. During this program, three of the athletes competed in summer competitions, all three of which qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic competition.

Winter 2019 expands to 35 athletes. Practice grows by thirty minutes to allow for more recovery and team bonding. This year sees the heaviest emphasis on cross-training than any previous year. The coaches try new training tactics to increase athlete ability and knowledge.
